So I am trying to investigate further into homeschooling. I want to find out if there are any co-ops in my area that I can join. Or any online groups that can help answer my questions and be a support group for us if we decide to go this route. I think this really might be the best option for my kids. I really do not like the school system here. I am terrified to send Brittin to the middle school. He has already started with this terrible attitude this year that just wasn't there last year. Jayden is always in a bad mood and has a hard time controlling his anger. Yesterday he stayed home and we spent time together reading, going to the library and he played first in math, which is a great math game site. He was in such a great mood. In the evening he got along with the other 2 as well. This area has more home schoolers than I have ever seen. Usually I don't even hear about homeschooling, but I have met many people here who home school and their kids are wonderful little people. I love that there are so many different teaching methods. I like how the kids can pick what they want to learn. You don't have to use textbooks for everything. You can use the resources that the library provides. My kids love to learn and I think this will make it even more fun. What is even more incredible is that all 3 of them want to be homeschooled. Aleyna told me she doesn't want to end up like our neighbor. She claimed "Did you see what they did to "S" in middle school? He cusses all the time, calls people names and is really mean to Jayden now. I don't want to end up like that" Wow. Doesn't that just say it all?!
You may ask, but what about socializing and your daily freedom? Well lets see. They don't get much socialization in school since they only get 1 ten minut recess a day if the teacher feels like going outside. They are involved in scouts and sports. Also through co-ops you join other families. As for my freedom, school is usually done by noon. Then I will be at the farm where my instructor home schools her 6 children. My kids get along fabulously with hers. It gives us more freedom to plan trips. I can take them on many more field trips than they usually go on. We can make learning FUN! We don't have to worry about the daily bullying. I won't have to hear my kids come home telling me that they are having a hard time making friends. They have neighborhood friends who come over almost daily now!
The great thing is, I don't have to put off my career either. I can still do my photography business since I will be meeting my clients in the evenings and on weekends anyway!
So everyone say a little prayer that God helps me to decide what is best for everyone, and for Matt to come along with us on this journey if we decide to step off into that direction.
